Chelsea PostSaver 90 savings account launched

The Chelsea PostSaver 90 savings account has been introduced – the deal comes with an interest rate fixed at 5.1 per cent until June 21st 2006.

From June 22nd onwards a guarantee will be given that the account's gross interest rate per year will be at least 0.25 per cent above the Bank of England's base rate until July 4th 2007.

In the initial fixed period no withdrawals can be made from the account and from June 22nd onwards 90 days' prior written notice must be given for withdrawals.

Any amount withdrawn without such notice will be subject to 90 days' loss of interest on the sum taken out.

The Chelsea PostSaver 90 savings account will be operated by post, a feature which Kerri Morgan, investment marketing manager at Chelsea, says makes the deal more convenient.

"If you're happy not having instant access to your money this account is an ideal home for your savings," she added.

On July 5th 2007 the Chelsea Postsaver 90 savings account will become the PostSaver Advantage and withdrawals will not require a notice and be penalty-free.
