Alliance & Leicester offers new accounts

Alliance & Leicester has repackaged its Premier and Premier Direct account range in an effort to challenge the high street big banks and accommodate customer needs.

From September 4th, the bank will be offering fee-free packages and the highest credit interest available in the UK.

Helen Palmer, head of current accounts, says that in the competitive world of banking, the new accounts are about providing choice.

"The restructure of the accounts ensures we offer a choice of market leading accounts with different benefits based on differing customer preferences," she said.

Premier and Premier Direct will each offer market leading interest rates, zero per cent overdraft and free travel insurance.

"People who want great rates and who are happy to run their account online will be attracted to Premier Direct," Ms Palmer advised.

For any existing clients, they can get an extra bonus by introducing a friend to either of the accounts.

In return, they will both receive £50 credit from the bank for each account opened.
