Prudential children's bond launched

A new Kid's Saving Bond has been launched by the bank Bradford & Bingley, it has been announced.

The bond has a guaranteed fixed return and a rate of 6.4 per cent, which is "highly competitive", the bank claims.

Children up to the age of 16 are eligible for the saving bond and are also eligible for gross interest on the bond.

Ian Cornelius, director of savings at Bradford & Bingley, said: "Our Kid's Saving Bond offers parents and a fantastic way of investing in their children's future while gaining great returns.

"Not only does our Kid's Saving Bond offer exceptional savings rates, parents can also be assured that their children's savings have the added security of guaranteed returns."

The minimum opening balance for the bond is £100, with the maximum balance at £25,000.

Meanwhile, recent research from Bradford & Bingley has found that over half of Britons over the age of 35 would like to travel more than they do.
