Abbey credit card is 'the market leader'

A new Abbey credit card is the best on the market, the provider has claimed.

Abbey believes its new credit card offers the longest balance transfer period on the high street and a competitive rate on ongoing purchases and spending.

The credit card offers a rate of zero per cent on balance transfers for 15 months and the same rate on purchases for three months.

It also provides an ongoing APR of 15.9 per cent.

Roger Lovering, managing director of credit cards at Abbey, said the card - which is now available from branches, over the telephone or via the internet - is designed to help people looking to get more control of their finances during the recession.

"People are having to manage their finances more carefully and, from talking to our customers, it became clear that current priorities are very much about good financial management and value for money," he continued.

The news follows the launch of a new issue of Abbey's instant access saver, which boasts unlimited penalty-free withdrawals and an AER of three per cent.
