Pensions calculator recommendation offered by Aviva

Financial services provider Aviva has offered people considering their retirement savings a series of tips about working.

The company suggested anyone preparing for the future may wish to think carefully about the job they do and whether its physical or mental demands may be too much to cope with in old age.

It noted that some people may wish to look at other careers if it is more suitable to their needs.

"If you want to work into later life, think about how you can adapt your career. Does your job allow you to work fewer days or shorter hours?" asked the firm.

Aviva urged retirees or anyone preparing for the end of their working life to ensure they have a clear picture of their assets, which should include savings, investments and any pension pots associated with previous employers.

Last month, the organisation unveiled a new salary exchange calculator, which allows advisers to show people how such transactions will impact their pension.
