Alliance & Leicester finds business owners share the load

According to new research from Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, some 38 per cent of small businesses owners run their company with support from their partner.

In terms of dividing responsibilities, the bank found that the most common roles for a partner to take on are in operations, sales, management, finance and general administration.

Meanwhile, over a third of couples share the financial decision making in their businesses with their personal partner.

Steve Jennings, director of business banking at Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, said its researched showed that "many couples are committed to making their business a success".

"As well as working closely with their partner and making important joint financial decisions which … they are both able to achieve a sense of accomplishment and reap the rewards of a sound business partnership," he commented.

In other news from Alliance & Leicester, the bank announced last month that it is extending the 8.5 per cent AER credit interest offer on both its Premier Direct and Premier 50 current accounts for another three months.
