Post Office credit card is 'the best for overseas use'

Britons who are planning a holiday abroad this year have been advised that they could make the biggest savings by opting for the Post Office Platinum credit card.

According to moneysupermarket.com, this card trumps the likes of Nationwide's FlexAccount and the FairFX and Caxton prepaid card because it offers free purchase protection in addition to zero per cent on purchases for the first three months.

Moreover, the Post Office card carries no charges while overseas, making it easier for holidaymakers to stick to budgets.

The firm's travel money expert Peter Harrison commented: "This is a far better prospect than other cards that typically charge between 2.73 and three per cent for purchases abroad."

Still, Brits travelling abroad could find that their pound stretches slightly further than originally expected while on holiday this year.

According to the Post Office, the euro has fallen in value against the pound by around seven per cent since the end of 2008, meaning holidaymakers could get more for their money.
