Yorkshire Virtual Assistant proving a hit with customers

Yorkshire Building Society has added a virtual assistant to its staff to deal with online enquiries.

For the last four months the Yorkshire Virtual Assistant, who has been given the name Helen, has been interacting with customers of the building society.

So far, some 3,000 people have benefited from the new service, which is available to offer advice "24 hours per day, seven days per week", claims the financial services provider.

Users are advised to ask the Yorkshire Virtual Assistant questions in "natural language" rather than trying to pick out key words, such as when using a search engine.

Meanwhile, according to Yorkshire, the public has taken a liking to her as she "creates an emotional and entertaining experience".
