Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks security advice issued

People should avoid being taken in by a scam relating to Royalty Travels by not disclosing their credit card details, according to Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks security advice.

The firms have stressed they are not linked with the company and any suggestion that they are is false.

In order to be sure they will not fall victim to fraudulent activity, the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks security advice indicates that customers should not provide any details when they receive unsolicited emails or phone calls.

Among the other tips offered by the financial institutions is for consumers to sign new cards straight away, never put their credit card details in an email and destroy any carbon paper used in a transaction.

The Royalty Travels scam asks customers to pay a registration or administration fee to receive a prize, according to the organisations.

Last month, the firms published research showing that British people are cutting out "life's little luxuries" so that they can get away on holiday.
