More than seven million Brits 'planning to save more and cut spending'

Over seven million Britons are planning to turn to saving and cut down on their spending in the process, it has been discovered.

A new poll conducted by uSwitch.com found that 78 per cent of adults said they plan to review their finances soon and nine per cent said they will make this a regular occurrence.

It also discovered that 4.3 million consumers feel that the recession has had a positive effect upon their funds, with lower prices, more deals and mortgage repayments decrease.

Personal finance manager for the firm Louise Bond said: "Despite the doom and gloom, many consumers are seemingly exhibiting a 'British bulldog' spirit amid the financial crisis and finding ways to accentuate the positives."

Meanwhile, those planning a relaxing break in the future have been advised by Tesco Travel Money to save pennies by shopping around for the best currency deals and resisting the temptation to use debit or credit cards while abroad.
