New guaranteed investment products from Abbey and Alliance & Leicester

A range of new guaranteed investment products have been launched by Alliance & Leicester and Abbey, which offer consumers some new ways to put aside their cash.

Among these, the Guaranteed Growth Plan is available for a term of five and a half years with a minimum investment of £1,500. It offers a guaranteed return of at least 13 per cent and has both a stock market and house price option.

The Guaranteed Capital Plus product is also available for the same duration, but those who invest will receive a return of 37 per cent if the FTSE 100 Index maintains its levels from the time of the account opening.

Finally, the Guaranteed Capital Plan also offers a stock market-dependent option, with those investing receiving an 18 per cent return should the FTSE 100 remain the same or increase by the account's maturity.

Alliance & Leicester and Abbey are owned by the Spanish banking group Santander and are set to be fully rebranded by the end of next year.
