Ofcom ruling failed to bite, says uSwitch

Comparison website uSwitch has spoken out against consumer watchdog Ofcom's latest review of switching mobile phone networks, with a communications expert stating that there is still a "huge gap" in the UK's knowledge regarding this.

Ernest Doku made this observation, noting that the steps Ofcom have taken are not strong enough and, as a result, big changes such as allowing people to move without the need for a PAC code request from current providers have failed to be implemented.

The uSwitch representative continued by saying that in spite of the fact that the report has been ongoing for years, it has "failed to deliver".

He observed: "Two million users even believe that they will lose their phone number if they switch network, which is simply not true."

This follows recent uSwitch research revealing that 22 million jet-setters intend to take their mobile phones on holiday with them, with 15 million neglecting to check the costs of making calls while abroad.
