AA credit cards 'could offer debt relief'

Consumers who use an AA credit card could find that they save money by using the product for the purchase of petrol, according to a source from the firm.

Director of AA Financial Services Mark Huggings highlighted how much the price of fuel has increased in the past year and pointed out that the company's credit card offers double reward points on such transactions.

He said: "The cost of fuel has risen by more than 15p per litre over the past year, adding over £32.50 to the monthly petrol bill of a two-car family."

Mr Huggins noted that the upcoming VAT hike is only going to worsen the situation.

In his view, the AA credit card can help to reign in this spending by delivering valuable reward points, with members of the motoring organisation receiving double what their non-associated counterparts would do.

This week, the British Bankers' Association announced that credit card spending in November was "fairly strong".
