Quick-witted consumers have the ability to receive a 50 per cent discount when combining Tesco insurance packages.

People who purchase Tesco car insurance and who then request the group's home insurance package before May 22nd will have their quote held for 90 days until they are ready to commence their policy.

Allan Burns, head of insurance at Tesco Personal Finance, said that many consumers were seeking out the most competitive insurance deals available and consequently shopping for both car and home packages.

"So, we want to reward those customers who choose to insure both their car and home with us," he added.

Customers who are buying a Tesco home insurance package for the first time will receive a 35 per cent premium when they purchase online.

Customers currently applying for packages through a medium other than the internet receive a 30 per cent discount on the first year of their home insurance premium.
