Tesco: Cash machines to have busiest day ever

Cash machines are predicted to pay out more cash on December 23rd than ever before, according to Tesco Bank.

Tesco's ATM machines have already seen a huge increase on the number of transactions that have been carried out in the run-up to Christmas, compared to this time last year.

Consumers are expected to withdraw record sums of cash as they prepare for the Christmas holiday weekend. It is expected that Tesco's 3,000 cash machines will handle 20 per cent more transactions on December 23rd than last year.

Tesco Bank's head of ATMs Stewart Gow said: "It's already shaping up to be a cash Christmas for most Brits this year and we're working hard to ensure our network of cash machines is well stocked."

According to research by Tesco earlier this year, 51 per cent of six to ten-year-olds believed they will grow up to be millionaires.
