A new discount offered on Tesco insurance promises 30 per cent off car breakdown cover.

The deal is applicable to first-year Standard Care, Extra Care and Total Care policies - all of which may be bought over the internet, in stores or via the phone.

Taking into account the 30 per cent discount, customers could expect to pay £23 if they have one car with a standard policy, compared with £33 without the offer.

Tesco Car Breakdown Cover is provided as part of a collaboration with Green Flag Motoring Assistance.

The average response time for a call is approximately 40 minutes, according to Tesco. In addition, if a customer finds that they do not have help within one hour, they can claim £10.

In January, Tesco Car Insurance offered customers a deal in which they could save £100 on Navmans sat nav sets.
