Skipton launches new online bonds

A new range of fixed, online bonds has been launched by Skipton Building Society.

The Online Pick 'N' Fix range offers three products to choose from, from one to three years, all at a rate of 6.5 per cent.

Monthly income options are at a rate of 6.25 per cent.

The bonds require a minimum investment of £500 and a maximum of £250,000, or £500,000 if it is a joint account.

Customers may open multiple bonds but the total investment must not exceed the limit.

Bond rates have been fluctuating, according to Baronworth (Investment Services) Ltd.

It said that in the past week, guaranteed bond rates have been on a "rollercoaster", though most rates have stayed down.

It advised investors to check rates on a daily basis.

The best rate Baronworth found in its survey was for a one-year annual bond from AIG.

Baronworth monitors income and growth rate bonds throughout the day.
