Lloyds Banking Group announces dormant fund drive

Lloyds Banking Group has announced a new drive aimed at reuniting customers with money held in dormant accounts.

The group announced that it would be paying for a new advertising campaign to encourage customers to check if they have dormant funds held in savings, current or business accounts with the group.

Peter Jackson, managing director of consumer banking at Lloyds Banking Group, said that it would be a "significant task" to reunite customers with their untouched money.

He added: "A key priority for the group is to offer initiatives specifically designed to help our customers.

"In challenging times reuniting customers with dormant funds could prove a welcome boost to many."

Lloyds Banking Group is the new name of Lloyds TSB. The high street bank changed its official title after it bought out the HBOS group - which includes Halifax and the Bank of Scotland - earlier this year.
