Pet cover 'important for Brits to get right'

Focusing on good cover limits for accidents, illness and injury should be a priority for individuals planning to take out pet insurance in the UK, it has been claimed.

Dec Fisher, head of ancillaries at Hastings Direct, said Brits should focus on taking out the most comprehensive pet insurance they can afford when their animals are less than one year old, as it is during this period that they are most likely to require veterinary assistance.

He commented: "A comprehensive pet insurance policy should offer good cover limits for accidents, injury or illness. However, insurance will not reimburse you for routine health checks at the vets."

Mr Fisher also recently noted that unfortunately there is no NHS for animals and therefore should a pet be unlucky enough to fall ill or become injured, it can be very expensive to pay for treatment if owners do not have the right level of cover in place.
