Motorists advised to look for insurance discounts

Opportunities exist for motorists to get discounts on their motor insurance should they choose to remain loyal to their insurer.

This is the verdict of price comparison website MoneyExpert but its research shows that the opportunities are relatively few and far between with only 13 per cent currently offering discounts to customers for multiple policies.

Drivers are being urged by MoneyExpert to cut the cost of their insurance premiums by using firms which offer discounts of up to ten per cent on motor insurance.

Sean Gardner, chief executive of MoneyExpert, commented: "Loyal customers who buy a range of policies from an insurer are being rewarded and that's to be welcomed. It can make sense to put all your business with a company if you value the customer service."

According to MoneyExpert, the average annual comprehensive car insurance currently stands at an all-time high, reaching £806.

The price comparison site has recommended certain insurance providers as ones giving customers more for their money when purchasing in excess of one product.

These are; Norwich Union, Egg, Churchill, Direct Line, Liverpool Victoria and Virgin Money.
