Its emergency vehicle assistance cover possesses a number of attractive features, including up to £1,200 cover should a vehicle become out of use due to fire, theft, accidental damage or breakdown.
Other measures incorporated within the American Express car insurance package include roadside parts and assistance cover, as well as insurance being provided for any camping equipment which is stolen or accidentally damaged.
Estimating that some one in ten holidaymakers have taken their car abroad, Joanne Field, marketing manager for the group's insurance arm, said: "I would recommend that anyone driving on the continent checks their breakdown policy to ensure they are covered abroad."
American Express car insurance packages start at £24.50 for a three-day trip, rising to £62.95 for annual European cover.
