American Express travel insurance packages possess 'huge discounts'

American Express is currently offering its customers a 40 per cent saving on its travel insurance packages.

Annual budget American Express travel insurance packages currently cost a single adult £30, with family cover costing £49 when purchased online.

Usually, such packages would cost £52 for a single individual and £89.99 for a family.

American Express travel insurance packages could be particularly beneficial for frequent travellers, with the group estimating that the number of trips undertaken has increased to 17.2 million in the first quarter of the year.

Some 8.85 million of these trips were taken to European destinations, the research shows.

Joanne Field, marketing manager at American Express Insurance Services, said: "Discount air fares have dramatically increased our ability to travel and visit family and friends abroad."

She said that frequent travellers would benefit from the "fundamental protection" afforded through the 93 days cover offered each year.
