Insurance buying "revolutionized" by price comparison sites

Price comparison websites have worked wonders for the insurance industry over the last decade, it has been claimed.

Insurancewide.com, which was among the first of the sites to launch back in 1999, said the sector has "revolutionised insurance buying".

"Insurers are supportive and are closely involved," said the company, which stated the same thing could not have been said several years ago.

"This kind of service remains by far the best option for busy consumers and there is no viable alternative," it added.

Insurancewide explained that the majority of comparison sites are "making good progress" as well and that the key to a successful portal is to make sure that the right questions are put to customers.

The statement follows the continued expansion of Gocompare.com, which announced earlier this week that its car insurance service now covers more than 80 providers.

It has also increased its home insurance offerings too, to include the likes of Tesco and Prudential.ADNFCR-323-ID-18753649-ADNFCR
