ABI offers car insurance advice to young drivers

A range of deals are available to offer affordable car insurance to young drivers, the Association of British Insurers has said.
Insurance expert at the organisation Malcolm Tarling, said that the insurance market for young people is competitive.
He urged young people to shop around and also pointed out that there is no point buying a dream car if it is too expensive to run.
Mr Tarling also explained that insurers class cars into 20 groups, taking into account spare parts and the cost of the vehicle.
Policies vary significantly, with some being adjusted to incorporate such actions as not driving at night or allowing a year's no-claims bonus after six months subject to certain conditions.
According to a report by the Independent, young drivers can pay more than £1,500 for car insurance.
Research from comparison website uSwitch has found that drivers aged 17 to 25 have to pay more than twice the national average, with the respective figures being £989 and £459.
