Direct Life adds PruProtect services

Direct Life and Pension Services (DLPS) has announced plans to add PruProtect's life and serious illness cover products to its LifeQuote and LifeQuote plus policies.

PruProtect's serious illness cover plan provides protection against more than 150 different illnesses.

It also allows customers to review the plan following a claim without any additional exclusions, offering continued protection for further illness or injury.

Commenting on the announcement, sales and managing director at DLPS Neil McCarthy said: "The adoption of a broad range of serious illness cover rather than a traditional critical illness approach gives advisers more choice."

In addition, he said, a new vitality programme will also prove attractive to many customers as it will enable them to reduce their premiums by managing and improving their health.

Earlier this week, Zurich revealed that it had seen an increase in the number of critical illness claims paid out during 2008.

The insurer paid out on 746 claims over the last 12 months, compared with 710 in 2007.
