LV= insurance claims approvals increasing

LV= has released figures which reveal that the proportion of protection insurance claims which were approved last year has increased compared to 2007.

The insurer claimed it paid out a total of £45.9 million to protection insurance policy holders last year, including £12.1 million in income protection claims, and £8.4 million in critical illness claims.

Matt Morris, head of protection strategy at Lifesearch, said that the increase in the proportion of claims approvals had been helped by the guides LV= publishers for financial advisers to use in explaining its products to clients.

He added: "This […] significantly reduces the risk of client confusion or misunderstanding when making their application, which is the biggest cause of complication at point of claim."

Recently, LV= announced a partnership with Standard Life which will see the latter offering LV= branded life insurance policies to its customers.
