M&S Money insurance issue warning over cycling

People should check that their policy covers their bicycles, according to a spokesperson for M&S Money insurance.

Andrew Ferguson, head of general insurance at the firm, made his comments after the company revealed that 76 per cent of households have at least one bike in their home.

He noted that summer weather makes cycling a much more popular activity but issued a note of caution over the safety of such items.

"It is important that if people have a bicycle already, or are considering making a new purchase, they make sure it is covered adequately by their home insurance," remarked Mr Ferguson.

The organisation pointed out that M&S Money home insurance provides unlimited cover for bicycles and highlighted how National Bike Week begins on June 19th.

Last month, the same firm suggested people check their insurance policies to ensure that any new garden furniture they buy is covered, particularly the more expensive items.
