Tesco: Car insurance is a man's game

Men are in the driving seat when it comes to choosing car insurance, according to Tesco car insurance.

Its research reveals that while women are generally better at reading small print, when it comes to cars and technology men are streets ahead.

Some 56 per cent of men claim to read the minute details of car insurance policies, as well as mobile phone, cable and broadband agreements, compared to only 50 per cent of women.

However 61 per cent of drivers have also found themselves unable to claim on their insurance in the past year, despite poring over the small print, because they were not adequately covered.

Paul Baxter of Tescocompare.com said: "Insurance polices can be complicated, and it is not surprising that so many people find themselves in a situation where they thought they were covered when in fact they weren't."

Tesco is currently offering a 30 per cent discount on car breakdown cover, in conjunction with Green Flag.
