Sainsbury's car insurance finds increasing premiums

According to the group, average premiums have increased by almost £10 in the year to January 2007 to £472.52.
Young people under the age of 25 were subjected to the highest car insurance premium hikes, rising by 5.8 per cent, while the over-65s saw their costs fall by 0.5 per cent.
Men are far more likely to experience hefty premium costs, with the average man paying £499.06 for cover compared to £434.46 paid by women.
Steve Johnson, head of car insurance at the bank, said: "It always pays to keep a close eye on your car insurance premiums and shop around to make sure you are paying a competitive rate because you could enjoy significant savings of over £100.
He added that motorists could save up to £140 with Sainsbury's car insurance premiums, policies which offer a range of cover and benefits.
