Dangerous driving habits highlighted by Sainsburys Insurance

A list of some of the dangerous activities people can undertake while driving has been published by Sainsburys Insurance.

The firm carried out a study to see which of the potentially disastrous habits people admitted to having done this summer.

Activities included texting while driving, having a pet loose in the car, reading a map, speeding, using a mobile phone behind the wheel and being on the road while hung over.

However the top three habits British motorists admitted to were eating or drinking while driving, using a car despite being tired and not wearing shoes to push the pedals in a vehicle, with 38 per cent, 28 per cent and 18 per cent of respondents respectively saying they had done these things.

Last week, Sainsburys Insurance highlighted how 22 per cent of cat and dog owners have had a pet go missing over the past five years, but many of them did not carry out simple steps to try to locate them.
